Job Summary

The Manager, Sales Training & Development Oncology is responsible for aligning training strategies and content to support Eisai organizational goals. The Manager of Training & Development reports to the Associate Director of Commercial Training and Development

Effective execution in this role will have a measurable impact on the organization by enhancing the capabilities of the Sales Force through initial product training, advanced product training, improved selling skills, disease state knowledge, clinical and business acumen and application of the Eisai Selling model.

Outstanding facilitation and presentation skills in both live and virtual environments is essential to the success of this job.

He/she will serve as the lead point-person and training subject matter expert with his/her respective commercial brand (marketing) team(s) and coordinates brand/customer training strategies and needs. They will also serve as training liaison for training and sales and will be responsible for the development of training for their assigned brand leadership team(s) including:

  • Overseeing and managing multiple vendor and consultant relationships along with monitoring and managing their effectiveness and quality.

  • Managing multiple cross functional projects simultaneously.

  • High visibility in working with senior leaders of the organization and supporting periodic Plan of Action Meetings and product launches.

Ability to work in Nutley, NJ office preferred. Remote office options will be considered with travel up to 50% per month. Facilitation of live, in-person training classes in the Nutley, NJ office comprised of consecutive days 1-2 weeks per month is required.

Attendance for business-critical meetings, both in Nutley, NJ and at live sales meetings, is required. Quarterly live, in-person meetings with supervisor in Nutley, NJ is required outside of training classes.

Essential Functions

Sales Training and Development Partner with stakeholders to develop and maintain product & brand related sales training tools, workshops, and classroom presentations (live and virtual) to ensure they are current and meet the needs of all stakeholders. Develop learning tools as well as assessment programs to support all sales training programs.

Manage vendors and projects to meet project goals and to optimize timing and budgetary requirements. Responsible for managing the development, implementation, facilitation and evaluation of such programs. Ensure projects and materials are evaluated against and meet sound training and adult learning principles and ensure all projects and materials have been through the correct regulatory review process before being delivered to field sales forces. Appropriately integrate the Eisai Selling model into the creation of training materials and content. Ensure current training materials incorporate and align with our selling model.

Participate and advise during advisory boards, task forces, commercial brand teams staff meetings. Develop appropriate training tools to meet the needs of field sales forces and are aligned with our selling model.

Support other internal customers by developing training tools, workshops, presentations for initiatives including product launches, sales, and POA meetings. Take the lead and facilitate training as needed, including “Train-the-Trainer” programs when rolling out training programs and materials to field sales management teams at pre-POA meetings and support as required field POA meetings.

Maintains and enhances product and disease state knowledge to stay current on national sales trends and innovations to ensure the proper creation of training materials. Continuously develop and maintain latest knowledge of our selling model- 65%

Responsibilities Interaction & Collaboration level: Requires interaction with vendors and key senior stakeholders at Manager, Sr. Manager, Associate Director and Director level in sales, sales training, and marketing on daily to weekly basis- 15%

Special Projects and Other Departmental Support: Supports any training projects and other department initiatives, to include Senior Management Special Projects, Corporate Task Forces, Large Cross-Functional Training Projects (e.g. Product Launches, New Hire Classes, Home Office Training, etc.)

Requires interaction with key senior stakeholders at director level and above cross functionally on a weekly/bi-weekly basis- 10%

Self Development: Assess professional and personal goals and continuously build skills to reach potential. Participate in activities and courses to enhance, for example, communication, organizational skills, leadership, and problem solving.-10%

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferable in a life science field or adult learning. Oncology experience preferred.

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience; proven track record of successful sales performance or marketing experience.

  • Training or teaching-related experience preferred, including knowledge of adult learning principles and experience with distance learning and learning management system.

  • Strong facilitation skills (live and virtual).

  • Vendor management experience preferred.
